Attendance & Punctuality

Arriving at school on time.

There is a clear link between attendance and attainment; the more time a pupil spends in school the more likely they are to improve their opportunity to fulfil their full potential. School starts at 9am, it is ideal to arrive 10-15 minutes before school begins to settle into school life.

Being on time is a good thing!

  • Gets the day off to a good start with everyone in a positive frame of mind.
  • Helps your child make the most of their learning and sets positive patterns for the future. Helps children develop a sense of responsibility both for themselves and for others.
  • Helps your child make and keep friends. Improves self confidence.

The impact of being Late !

  • Gets the day off to a bad start and can put you in a mood.
  • Can be embarrassing.
  • May damage your child’s confidence.
  • Children miss vital information at the start of the day.
  • Disrupts the learning.

Being frequently late for school adds up to lost learning:

Where practical, please schedule appointments outside school hours or during recess/lunch , limiting disruption to the classroom learning environment.

School times are listed out in KEY DATES AND TIMES menu

Some things that may help:

  • Help your child get everything ready the night before (e.g. home reader bag, school uniform).
  • Allowing plenty of time to get to school.
  • Make sure your child has breakfast or arrives at school in time for breakfast club (Friday only).
  • Help your child organise homework.
  • Establish a good bedtime routine

If you have concerns around your child's ability to attend school please contact Kylie Watson or Ryan Oliver.

Student Absences - Via SENTRAL.

If your child is absent from school, please log absence via the Sentral App. This should be done prior to or on the day of absence by 9am.

Notifying the school of your child’s absence helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and will fulfil your legal responsibility.

Extended Absence:

If the absence is for an extended period, such as a family holiday, please also advise your child’s teacher via Messages on Sentral along with an Absences in SENTRAL.

Late/Early Arrivals:

If your child is late for school, either come into the office to sign them in as a late arrival, or upon dropping your child to school, please remind them that they will need to come via the school office to be signed in as a late arrival before going to class.

It is a Department requirement that parent’s advise the school of all school absences. Any unexplained absence will be followed up by the school (message sent by 10 am).
