CAMP QUALITY PUPPET SHOW INCURSION

On Monday, Andy and Emma, from Camp Quality visited St Joseph's School and presented two entertaining shows:  Prep to Year 2 watched "The Big Party" and Year 3 to 6 viewed "The Big Score".  These puppet shows presented typical family situations where the child and family had to change much of their lifestyle, location and dreams in order to make receiving cancer treatment for their child possible.  These presentations raised AWARENESS, UNDERSTANDING and EMPATHY about the impact of childhood cancer and to dispel  some myths surrounding this disease.

Some of the students made the following comments:

"I learnt that you can't catch cancer from someone."

"I liked the soccer story about a boy who had to move house and join another soccer team because his sister had to go to Melbourne to have cancer treatment."

"I learnt that it is hard for the brothers and sisters of the sick person too."

"I learnt that your hair grows back after you finish your treatment."

"I loved the puppet show! Andy and Emma were really funny and taught me lots of things about cancer."

In all they do, Camp Quality promotes the theme of  'Laughter is the Best Medicine'.  They offer hospital, recreation and puppet programs, as well as funding camps, outings and holidays for families with children suffering from cancer and their siblings.

The show was completely free of charge for schools, but we may consider a gold coin donation and Crazy Hair or Giggle Day at a later date for this very worthy cause in the near future.

I've attached a Letter to Educators and Families whih provides further information on Camp Quality and the performances.
