5M

Hello from Miss Mackintosh

5M, along with all the other Year 5 classes were lucky enough to start their Term 4 off with camp! We visited Forest Edge in Neerim East for 3 days and 2 nights. Throughout the 3 days, the students were all split into groups with people from other classes and did all their activities in these groups. This was a great way for the students to make some new friends and for the teachers to get to know some more of the Year 5 cohort.

The activities over the 3 days included:

  • Flying fox
  • Mountain boarding
  • Rock climbing (when it was raining)
  • Crate stacking
  • Ultimate frisbee
  • Archery
  • 9 up
  • Arts and crafts
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Trivia
  • Riddles
  • Movies
  • Disco

These three days were jampacked. In between the activities the students all enjoyed some delicious home baked meals which included biscuits, donuts, pasta, wraps, schnitzels and more.

It was wonderful to see so many children get out of their comfort zone and have a go at all the activities. The flying fox was an absolute highlight for most kids. It is the second largest flying fox in Victoria, with a length of over 300m. For some kids this was very challenging as it was also very high off the ground. Many kids were extremely proud of themselves and happy they conquered their fears.

Many students showed a high level of resilience too. The weather was not ideal with it pouring on day 2 and 3 which meant the students were having to do many of their activities in the rain. The students all decided that if they had spare clothes, that they didn’t want to miss out and participated in all the fun Forest Edge had to offer.
