Gearing up to the end of year, Hub has been very busy! In English class the students have been learning about public transport and using a Myki card. To make use of the sunny weather we have been having, we decided to facilitate our English class at the park! The students boarded the train together at Springvale Station and disembarked at Noble Park station. Following Google Maps, the students walked together to find Ross Reserve. We then played some team building games and completed an outdoor scavenger hunt which encouraged the students to use their five senses to explore the surroundings around them.
In addition, in Playgroup the children and mothers made salt dough handprints and baked them in the oven. Once dried, the children (and mothers!) had lots of fun painting the prints to look like Santa. One of the mothers, also made a request to build a gingerbread house so together everyone had a turn at building one using icing, biscuits and lollies for decoration. It looked great and was a fantastic team effort!
On Wednesday the 22nd of November, in collaboration with South East Community Links and Women’s Health in the South East, we ran a session with our women on the Springvale Campus about women’s health. It was a great day to come together, learn new things with the idea that in the future we can guide and support the next generation of women.
Lastly, as we are heading closer to the end of year our Hub activities will be wrapping up soon. Our annual Summer Hampers are also starting to come together so if you would like to donate to those in need we would greatly appreciate it! We are currently accepting donations of non-perishable foods, toiletries and homewares and toys. Please drop them off at the office by the 15th of December.
