A Spotlight on Learning

A Spotlight on Learning in the MLC on Springvale  Campus

What an amazing and action-packed term for the MLC, with a key highlight being the recent swimming program! Students had an amazing time and learnt important swimming safety tips. From understanding how to float to practising a variety of swimming strokes and styles, they not only enjoyed the water but also became more confident swimmers. It was a fantastic and educational experience for all!

In Reading, students have been learning to locate and understand information that is directly stated in a text. They have developed the skill to locate specific details efficiently, using text features to skim and scan. Additionally, students have demonstrated the ability in connecting ideas within a text, such as establishing connections between images and written content and interpreting data presented in tables and charts.

In Writing, students have explored the many different styles of poetry, such as alliterations, haikus and cinquains and created their own poems. Currently, the MLC students are working on crafting their own narratives, focusing on the structure and using paragraphs to organise their ideas.

In Mathematics, students have developed their understanding of multiplication and how to solve multiplication problems using efficient strategies. Students have practised how to multiply numbers using a variety of resources and using the written algorithm. They are currently extending their understanding of multiplication and its relationship with division.

In Social and Emotional Learning, students have been learning about gratitude, exploring its impact on personal well-being and cultivating a positive classroom atmosphere.

In Projects, the MLC students have been practising very hard to master their dance item for the upcoming whole school assembly. We are all very excited to perform and celebrate with our school community!
