Recently in Italian immersed with Art class, student’s have explored meaningful historical art. It has been a very eventful term as our student’s have enjoyed learning basic greetings, colours and numbers in Italian. To embrace the rich history of Italy’s stained glass windows we have created our own to mirror the culture. Student’s were fascinated with how significantly history is represented in today’s century.

We have also explored and replicated our own versions of the Mediterranean tiles. Student’s delved deep researching the origin of tiles in the coastal Italy while making connections to the tiles we use today in our homes. Student’s have done an outstanding job in creating their own versions, which we have now displayed on our Almalfi Coast inspired wall!

Senior Community Health sessions with Gayle

Senior students have been learning about the different body systems and the purpose of major organs of the body. Students presented their factual research to the class with many wonderful facts being mentioned. Did you know there are at least 206 different bones in an adult body and at least 600 different muscles in the body?? The human body is amazing the way everything ’fits together’.

Senior students have also been learning about the importance of having a good night’s sleep, the reasons why a healthy sleep routine is beneficial and to TURN OFF THE TECHNOLOGY 20 to 30 minutes PRIOR to going to sleep.

PE - Cricket Clinic

During the past 4 weeks, Annika from Cricket Victoria visited RHPS every Monday and Thursday and coached classes during their PE sessions. All other classes covered the same skills and learned many games during their PE lessons.

Our coach introduced the game of cricket and taught a range of fun and exciting activities to help improve bowling, fielding and batting skills.

It was wonderful to see so many students succeeding and improving their skills and confidence each week by actively participating and demonstrating their best efforts.

We are calling on our parents and carers for some feedback on our new RHPS Matrix!

This year, our School Captains (Vanya Berger and Buddy Wazze) and School Vice Captains (Indiana Lowe and Muntadhar Aoda) have been working very hard to re-design our RHPS Matrix. A school Matrix defines what the expectations are within different areas of the school and are aligned with our school values. The expectations have been created to meet the specific needs of our school.

In order to design this Matrix, our School Captains and Vice Captains have used school data to make decisions and have also sought feedback from a number of people within our school community, this includes:

Students – School Captains and Vice Captains held focus groups with students from every grade in the school
Staff PBIS Team – School Captains and Vice Captains met with the PBIS team after school to present their journey and then led a conversation to gather staff feedback
School Leadership team – School Captains and Vice Captains joined in on a leadership team meeting to present their work and then collected feedback from the leaders
