Principal Message

Dear Parents,

Year 1 Day Camp

The Year 1 class had a wonderful time today during their day camp at school. They enjoyed activities in the park, did some amazing art activities and enjoyed a movie to end the day. A big thankyou to the Year 1 teachers for organising a great day for the students.

Kindergarten Transition Day

The 2024 Foundation students enjoyed another transition visit to OGPS. They were placed in classes with our 2024 Foundation team who are Megan King, Jake Roberts, Ash Morphet, Jessica Chadwick and Mat Hebbard. A brilliant team indeed! The students were very excited and had a wonderful visit. The parents enjoyed a presentation from our Mental Health and Wellbeing Team Leader, Andy McNeilly where he shared information about resilience, independence and anxiety. Thank you to the Foundation team and to Andy for welcoming our new students, along with our new and current parents. And, we can’t forget the many grandparents who came along to assist and support their grandchildren.

GEM Day this Friday - Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness

This Friday is GEM Day which stands for Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. Students are encouraged to wear a splash of free choice colour with their uniform.

Lauren Baker has organised OGPS to participate in the Feed Me Bellarine food drive, which is a wonderful charity in this time of need for many families.

More information further in the newsletter.

Professional Practice Day

The staff enjoyed their professional practice day last Friday where they worked on student assessment and planning. They have been hard at work preparing the information for the end of year reports.

Melbourne Cup/Geelong Cup Survey

Thank you to all the families who completed the Melbourne Cup/Geelong Cup survey. We had just under 200 responses. The results from staff and our parent community both were overwhelmingly positive for Melbourne Cup Day. The survey results will be presented at the School Council meeting on Tuesday the 5th of December for discussion. If ratified it will then be placed officially on the school calendar. Melbourne Cup Day next year is on Tuesday the 5th of November.

Enjoy this lovely weather we are currently having.

Take care.

Cheryle
