Outdoor Education Camp

Year 11/12 OES Camp

Our recent Year 11 and 12 Outdoor Education camp provided students with an unforgettable blend of challenge, adventure  and connection.

The first day began with a surfing session, where all students successfully stood up and caught a wave - an impressive achievement that set a positive tone for the camp. This was followed by a reflective night walk, allowing students to experience the natural environment from a different perspective. The evening was spent building social connections through relaxed conversation and friendly card games.

On the second day, students undertook a challenging hike to the summit of Mount Oberon, where they were rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views. The afternoon shifted to beach activities, with spike ball quickly becoming a new favourite among students. Another night walk followed, during which students were fortunate enough to spot numerous wombats along the shoreline.

Throughout the camp, students demonstrated resilience and adaptability, particularly when using a trangias to cook their meals in windy conditions. Despite the challenges, they managed their equipment effectively and produced impressive results. Students also showed strong outdoor skills in setting up tents and actively participating in all activities, even in windy and, at times, very cold conditions.

Overall, the camp was a highly successful experience, highlighting students’ ability to embrace challenges, support one another and thrive in the outdoors.
