A taste of what's happening in Careers

Year 9 head to University of Newcastle Health and Medicine On-Campus Day

Earlier in June, our Year 9 students had an exciting and educational excursion to The University of Newcastle for Health and Medicine On-Campus Day. This immersive Uni Steps program offered a unique glimpse into what it's like to work in the health and medicine industry. Students had the incredible opportunity to use real radiology machines, learn the intricacies of making medicines and filling prescriptions, and even check a patient’s heart rate. They also toured specialised medical labs, gaining firsthand insights into various medical fields. The day was packed with engaging workshops and hands-on activities, led by knowledgeable teachers and enthusiastic university students from radiology, bioscience, nursing, and pharmacy. Our students were not only able to learn from these experts but also had the chance to ask questions and explore potential career paths in health and medicine.

I am proud of our Year 9 students for their curiosity and eagerness to learn, and we look forward to seeing how this experience might inspire their future endeavours in the medical field!
