Music Updates

Year 7

Year 7 have settled in nicely this year in Music, showcasing a vast array of musical talent. We started off with Bucket Drumming, where students honed their skills and learnt about rhythms and timing. Judging by their determination to beat their way through the levels, students seemed to enjoy their Music introduction. Year 7 are currently working hard, ready to conquer the keyboard and guitar next! Stay tuned.

Year 9

Year 9 Music have started out their elective course by looking at all thing Popular Music! They have completed their first lot of performances and viva voce’s and are currently studying their own chosen culture as part of the Music of a Culture unit. Year 9 have really given it their all so far this year, and we look forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings!

Year 11

Year 11 Music have been extremely busy this term as they completed their first lot of performances and are currently working on their compositions. We have had two of our talented students, Jacob Aspinall and Zoe Barbour, who recently represented Kurri Kurri High School in Starstruck. After the various rehearsals and extra hours, both students were successful. We are incredibly proud of you both and we look forward to hearing all about it. Year 11 rock band, Pit, featuring Bailey Parker and Korby Essex have also been smashing the local music scene, playing several gigs around the Newcastle and Maitland areas throughout the term. These boys are worth keeping an eye on and they are gearing up for their first tour in the coming weeks. We can’t wait to hear all of the stories!

Year 7 Italian

Year 7 students have been working hard on their writing skills to produce some extremely creative social media profiles. They have learnt how to write about their sports and hobbies, likes/dislikes and preferences in Italian as well as writing about their routines and how they spend their time. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Year 10 Dance

Year 10 Dance are busy working on their upcoming assessment tasks and are working to improve their performance and composition skills. They are composing dances using strange animals as a starting point and I can’t wait to see their final product. Some of the girls did a great job performing at Mini MADD night in Week 8.

Dance Ensemble

The girls have been working really hard on their hip hop routine which they will perform a small teaser of at Mini Madd night. I am extremely proud of their dedication and efforts, giving up many of their lunch times to get the performance ready for the stage.
