From the Principal's Desk

What's making news this fortnight?

Last day of Term 2 - Early Finish 2pm

Next Friday 4th July is the final day of school for Term 2.

  • Early Finish - 2pm dismissal — buses will also run one hour earlier.

School returns for Term 3 on Monday 21st July.

As we wrap up Term Two, I want to sincerely thank you for your support, encouragement and engagement throughout what has been my first full term as Acting Principal at Banmira Specialist School.

It has been a privilege to lead such a passionate, caring and committed school community, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together in such a short time.

END OF SEMESTER REPORTS

Student reports will be heading home with students next Thursday, July 3rd, with copies posted to families whose children are not in attendance on Friday, July 4th. These reports are a celebration of learning, growth and effort, and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as the Principal Team has. They are a credit to our students and to the amazing staff who support them each day.

TERM TWO HIGHLIGHTS

This term has been packed with highlights. Students have taken part in a range of sports events, whole-campus activities, and engaging incursions. At our Senior Campus, students enjoyed visits from police, firefighters, florists, and GV Water, learning more about the world around them in hands-on and exciting ways. Both campuses also celebrated and participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, joining thousands of schools across Australia to promote a love of reading.

NAIDOC WEEK

Next week, we are looking forward to ending the term with a special event. Our Junior Campus students will be visiting the Senior Campus for a shared NAIDOC Week celebration. This event will bring our school together to honour and recognise the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and their deep connections to land, water, community and culture.

LOOKING FORWARD...

Looking ahead to Semester Two, there is plenty to be excited about. Planning is already underway for our 2025 Debutante Ball, and our school camps program will be running across both campuses, from early years through to Year Twelve. These experiences provide invaluable opportunities for learning, growth and connection beyond the classroom.

From Wednesday 2nd of July,  I'll be taking a few extra days of leave. Daniel Lloyd (Assistant Principal) will be stepping in to cover for me for these few days, Georgia Bell (Assistant Principal- Wellbeing and Inclusion) will be leading the Senior Campus.

Thank you once again for a wonderful term. I wish you all a safe and restful break, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for another great semester ahead.
