đ Prep Athletics â This Week in PE
This week, our Prep students will be introduced to sprinting and the basic techniques involved in running races.

đââď¸ Year 1 & 2 Athletics â This Week in PE
This week, our Year 1 & 2 students will be introduced to the exciting Athletics event of Long Jump!
Students will learn the correct technique, including how to take off and land safely, and will have several fun attempts using our sand long jump pit.
In addition to long jump, students will also participate in other athletic events such as sprinting and foam javelin, helping to build their coordination, confidence, and enjoyment of physical activity.

đââď¸ Year 3 & 4 Athletics â This Week in PE
This week, our Year 3 and 4 students will be introduced to three key Athletics events: Long Jump, Shot Put, and Discus.
Using safe, age-appropriate equipment, students will learn the fundamental techniques for each event, focusing on developing coordination, confidence, and teamwork.
Activities are designed to be fun, inclusive, and supportive, helping every student build their movement skills and enjoy trying something new.
Weâre looking forward to a great week of active learning and athletic fun!

đ Year 5 & 6 Athletics Unit â Parent Preview
Dear Parents and Carers,
This term, our Year 5 and 6 students will be taking part in an exciting athletics unit during their Physical Education lessons, focusing on three key field events: Discus, Shot Put, and Long Jump.
Students will:
Weâll be using modified, age-appropriate equipment to ensure safety while allowing students to experience each event in a realistic and engaging way.
This unit also helps prepare students for school athletics carnivals and encourages them to try new skills in a supportive environment.

Interschool Sport
A huge congratulations to all of our Year 5 & 6 students who represented our school with pride at the Interschool Sport Gala Day!
The day was filled with great sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination across all sports. Whether competing on the field, court, or sidelines, our students showed excellent effort, respect, and enthusiasm throughout the day. It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging one another and displaying the true spirit of school sport.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students conducted themselves â both in performance and behaviour. Thank you also to the staff, volunteers, and families who helped support the teams.
We look forward to our next Gala Day on Friday, June 27, and canât wait to see our teams in action once again!

đââď¸đââď¸ Division & Regional Cross Country â Congratulations!
We are incredibly proud of the outstanding effort and achievement of our students who recently represented Wonga Park Primary School at the Division Cross Country event.
Well done to the following students for their commitment, perseverance, and sportsmanship on the day:
A special congratulations to Luella, Harper, Victoria, Theo, and Rory, who ran exceptionally well and qualified for Regional Cross Country â an amazing achievement!
And finally, a massive congratulations and best of luck to Victoria (Year 5), who placed 6th at Regionals and will now go on to represent Wonga Park Primary School at the upcoming State Cross Country Championships. We are so proud of your incredible effort, Victoria â go get âem at States!

Art Club
This week the Grade 5/6s were invited to use bark as their canvas and cue-tips as their painting tool when creating an Aboriginal inspired artwork.
Prep:
Prep students are continuing to build their musical skills by working with a steady beat through movement and rhythm activities. They will learn another simple choreographed routine that uses the beat of a song and create their own rhythms to perform on clapping sticks which include dynamics. Students will also be introduced to one of their Matilda Jr. songs.

Grade 1:
Grade 1 students are deepening their understanding of pitch by playing interactive music games that explore how sounds move up and down. They are also listening to and discussing music from a range of cultures and time periods, learning how music and dance can represent different cultural identities. This supports their exploration of the CBL Big Idea of 'Diversity'.

Grade 2:
Grade 2 students are exploring the variety of sound qualities instruments can make when played in different of ways. As they experiment with different playing techniques they are recording the sounds using a graphical notation. Students will also begin to explore ways they can make their own instrument.

Grade 3/4:
Students will be performing their movement pieces they have created to their funk-inspired GarageBand loop composition to show their understanding of musical 'feel,'. They will also explore Calypso music, learning about its rhythms and cultural background. Students will also be rehearsing  their songs for Matilda Jr..

Grade 5/6:
Students are progressing through the stages of their original songwriting projects. Some are refining lyrics and chord structures, while others are moving on to digital arrangement and recording using GarageBand. In addition, several classes are starting to learn and rehearse their vocal parts for the school production of Matilda Jr.

Prep
Prep students will continue to learn the signs for animals. This week they will be exploring the signs for farm animals. They will also begin to learn the signs for the popular song âOld Mac Donald.â

Grade 1 and 2
Grade 1 and 2 students will review their knowledge of the signs for the letters of the alphabet and continue to develop their skill in reading finger spelling through playing various games.Â

Grade 3 and 4
Grade 3 and 4 students will continue to consolidate their knowledge and application of how to use pronouns and adjectives in Auslan by creating a âWhat Is It?â presentation for a partner.
Â
Grade 5 and 6
Students will be composing simple messages and translating them into Auslan. They will explore how to structure a message using key vocabulary and use SignBank to help discover new sign vocabulary.
