Preps have been learning the names of colours and consolidating their counting to 10. They love singing all the songs! The students have also been teaching other teachers how to respond to the roll call in Japanese and to use the greetings - kawaii-ne!
Grade 1/2 students have listened to the story of Harapeko Aomushi (The Very Hungry Caterpillar) and have learnt the names of the fruits aomushi ate and the days of the week. They really enjoyed the days of the week rap, especially in double time!
The student in Years 3 and 4 have been learning about the months of the year and how to state their birthday month: “Tanjoubi wa 一月 desu”. They have also been learning how to write the month using Kanji.
Senior students have been learning the names for the months of the year as well as using a calendar in Japanese to support reading the days of the month to state their birthday. To enrich cultural understanding, they have learnt about Kendō, a Japanese martial art. They labelled their diagram of the protective clothing using Hiragana.

Frankston Susono Friendship Association 2025 Japanese Festival Colouring Competition
All students are welcome to participate in the Japanese Festival Coloring Competition. The colouring sheet will be handed out to students who wish to participate and can also be collected from the office foyer or printed using link below.
Prizes will be awarded in the Lower Primary (Prep-Grade 3) and Upper Primary (Grades 4-6) with all entries displayed at the festival and voted by festival attendees.
Please ensure all entrant's details are completed (First name, Surname initial; Age; Year Level; and School) and handed in by Monday 28th July via the office or to Sensei.
