Science

Our science department welcomes a new lab assistant, Racheal Allen, who will share the position of laboratory assistant with Mrs Tori McIntosh by preparing our equipment for the prac lessons on Thursday and Fridays. We are very grateful to have her help as the practical lessons are very busy as is the prep room.
Miss Fletcher’s Year 9 Science Class were busy learning about how enzyme activity is affected by temperature when she took some great pics. Miss Fletcher will be having some leave as she and her family travel with her caravan to the Queensland coast and up through central Queensland.
Mr Marshall will be due back after his leave travelling through the centre of Australia.
We will be entertained, I am sure, with some great stories from them both when they return, and as scientists, they will have collected some great specimens.
The Year 7 students have had loads of fun making their catapults and in the last week of term they will develop the skills of scientific report writing. With their new understanding of simple machines like brooms, wheelbarrows and shovels, maybe they will be excited to get in and do some gardening with these tools that make work easier. One can hope!
Students in all Year levels have worked hard this semester to build their brains and progress as thinkers for our communities. It's time for a rest and relaxation during the semester break and reflect on teacher feedback and advice from their reports.
I will take this opportunity to thank the science staff for their support, hard work and love of their vocation. It has been a busy and productive semester and I know they are all looking forward to the break.
