Learning Expo Review: Foliage, Fur and Feather

Wow!

Despite the wild weather, our school community showed incredible support, with so many parents braving the rain to attend our Foliage, Fur and Feather Learning Expo. Thank you for showing up with umbrellas in hand and smiles on your faces — your presence made the night truly special.

The Expo was an absolute delight! I was completely blown away by the children’s presentations, their deep knowledge and engagement, and their enthusiasm for sharing their learning. Each class displayed incredible research into the natural world, exploring how plants and animals adapt and survive.

The creative presentations were a joy to experience — from colourful dioramas and carefully crafted models to detailed posters and interactive displays. Many students showcased their excellent oral presentation skills, speaking with clarity, confidence, and genuine passion. It was clear just how much they had learned and how proud they were to share it.

Of course, it wasn’t all serious study — there were plenty of fun little gimmicks woven throughout! One community even served delicious hot soup — absolutely perfect for a chilly, rainy evening.

A huge thank you again to all the families who came out on such a miserable night. Your support means the world to our students. And to our amazing children and staff — congratulations on an outstanding Expo. Your creativity, curiosity, and commitment were truly inspiring.

Reports and Portfolios

Reports and Portfolios will be distributed at the end of this week.  While Portfolios will be distributed in the usual way, Reports can be accessed digitally through our new online app platform - nForma for Parents, following the previously communicated procedures:

  1. Download the App: nForma For Parents - is available on the App Store and Google Play.

  2. Log In: Use your registered email to log in. If you need assistance, contact the school office.

  3. View Reports: 2024 Semester 1 and 2 Reports are available to view now.  2025 Semester 1 will be published on Friday, 4th July, and you will receive a notification once they are live.

digitally through our new online app platform,

Please take the time to read through the Report and Portfolio and celebrate your child's successes. We ask that the Portfolios are returned in the first week back in Term 3 so that we can continue to compile samples of your child's work.

Parking, Safety, and Courtesy Around the School

As we head into the holidays — and with the wetter months ahead — it’s more important than ever to prioritise the safety of our children around the school, especially during pick-up and drop-off times.

Parking remains heavily congested, particularly near the Ormond Road entrance, due to our ongoing Building Program. Please remember to follow all road rules and take extra care when driving around the school. Do not stop in the middle of the road and expect your child to come to the car. Instead, please park safely and walk in to collect your child.

Currently, the front of the school is proving to be much calmer and more efficient when using our new Pick-Up Zone processes. This works best when:

  • All cars move in the same direction

  • There is no overtaking, no shortcuts, and no cutting in

  • Everyone stays patient and courteous

The safety of our children is absolutely paramount. Let's work together to ensure our school community remains safe, respectful, and considerate, particularly as the rain and wet weather add extra challenges.

Guess Who Came to Play

On Monday, representatives from the Western Bulldogs Football Club came to visit our school.

There was a Q&A session where the players shared their journeys—highlighting the importance of teamwork, resilience, and staying active. Following that, there was a quick kick-to-kick session with the opportunity for autographs and photos. It certainly proved exciting for some!

Beware

A friendly heads-up to all families — parking inspectors have been seen around the school, particularly near Ormond Road. Please make sure you park in designated bays and follow all parking signs and restrictions to avoid fines. Let’s all do our part to keep drop-offs and pick-ups safe and stress-free for everyone.

Fees and Levies

Thank you to all families who are up to date with their Fee and Levy payments for 2025.

Accounts were sent to families last week and unless you are paying by weekly or fortnightly instalments, Term 2 school fees and the Capital Levy are due by Friday, 4th July.

In fairness to all families, financial responsibilities must be kept up to date. If you are falling behind or experiencing difficulties, now would be a good opportunity to contact the school office to discuss your options.

Head Lice

With the school holidays approaching fast (Yay!), we ask families to check their children's heads as we are receiving continued reports of head lice at school.

In order to determine if your child has been infected with head lice, we are asking all parents to inspect their child’s hair. We suggest that you look for the following symptoms or signs that would indicate the presence of head lice:

  • General: child scratching his/her head excessively

  • On pillows: fine black powder or pale coloured material.

  • In the hair: signs of lice eggs (nits) – cream or coffee coloured specks close to hair roots.

  • Lice: small white or “greyish” parasites, the approximate size of a pinhead.

If you notice any of the above signs, or if you require further information, please contact your local pharmacy.  There are several effective treatments readily available and easy to apply.

To minimise the impact of a head lice outbreak we ask all parents to regularly check their child’s hair for the presence of head lice.

Commencement of Term 3

A reminder that Term 3 will commence for the students on Tuesday, 22nd July.

There is a School Closure Day on Monday, 21st July for a Staff Professional Development Day. The Day will centre on implementing the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools' Vision for Engagement, with a focus on Wellbeing and Positive Behaviour at Corpus Christi School.

I'm sure you will be interested in the following article in the latest MACS School and Parish Update which articulates our position.

Have a safe and happy holiday

God Bless
