Anne-Maree Coundon and I had the honour of accompanying our Year 8 boys and girls basketball teams to Cobblebank Stadium for an exciting competition. Our boys truly gave their all, securing 2 wins and 2 losses, and their dedication showed throughout the event.

As for our girls, they displayed exceptional skill and determination, emerging victorious in all their games and earning a well-deserved spot in the grand final. Even when they found themselves trailing at halftime, their commitment led to a thrilling 3-point victory against Bacchus Marsh, putting them through to the next round.

Both teams upheld the values of sportsmanship and represented Gisborne with the utmost pride. Our girls are eagerly anticipating the challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming rounds.

I would like to extend a special mention to Georgia S, who took on the role of coaching the girls' team. Her dedication and conduct were exemplary, earning recognition from other schools for coaching while wearing our full school uniform. Her poise and encouragement were a source of inspiration for our Year 8 girls.
