Term 3: Mercy in Action Awareness and Fundraising.
The Academy community has continued to celebrate being a Mercy community that takes action with our McAuley Community Services for Women donation drive which ends soon. Each year level has been asked to bring a different range of new items. These will contribute to supporting women and children who have faced family violence and homelessness begin to take control of their lives.
This week Justice Group filmed an interview with Hayley Marriot, McAuley Community Services for Women’s Fundraising and Engagement Coordinator which will be shared with staff and students in the coming week.
If you would like to contribute, please bring in your donations by this Monday, August 21!

This week the Justice group helped support Earth at Academy by sharing stories of how Fast Fashion impacts people’s lives. These stories told of the underpaid workers who make the clothes and the awful conditions in which they live and work, all the way to where our waste clothes end up, creating a toxic environment for the people in places such as Accra, Ghana in West Africa.
Next week, our Mercy in action will focus on Mercy Works with funds being raised through a Casual Clothes on Tuesday August 22. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation to Mentor Group on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
Mercy Works works in partnership with vulnerable communities & local organisations in Australia, The Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste To support people of these communities & organisations to build capacity and self-reliance.
