Library Updates

The CBCA Book of the Year Awards connect young people to great literature. During CBCA Book Week we celebrate reading for pleasure and applaud our awarded books.

Our Sun Project: Shadow Judging is an exciting addition to CBCA’s annual calendar. Young voices from groups across Australia join the conversation about CBCA’s annual Shortlist and choose their own winners. They will be announced at the end of CBCA Book Week at the first ever Shadowers’ Choice Awards (26 August).

Creating a group of ‘shadowers’ is a powerful way to connect young readers with the shortlisted books in a safe space where their opinions and responses can be heard.

This year Lyndhurst Primary School grade 5 and 6 students were offered a chance to be shadow judges. They have been meeting every Tuesday at lunchtime reading and talking about the shortlisted books in the Eve Pownall award and Picture Book of the year categories.

This fortnight they will be voting for their favourite title, gathering ideas and creating a response that will be shown to the rest of the school during assembly.

Book Week at Lyndhurst Primary School - Monday 21st August

We look forward to seeing you there!

THE GREAT READCYCLE IS ON AGAIN!!

What is READCYCLE?

READCYCLE is an event where families donate gently used, pre-loved books from home. They are then sold to our school community for a gold coin donation. The funds raised will be directly donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF).

To learn more about the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and its impactful work, please visit: ILF Website

READCYCLE plays a significant role in fostering environmental awareness by preventing books from ending up in landfills.

The book collection is in the library from Monday 28th August - Friday 1st of September.

Please ensure that the books you contribute are in good condition and ready for another reader to enjoy.

Book sale from Monday 4th - Thursday 7th September.

The sale will be available to students during lunchtime.
