Athletics

We had a great morning at the Field Athletics, despite some rain. The children all represented our school wonderfully and tried their best! Well done to Reece who came 1st in Shot Put and Anastasia who came 2nd! Awesome effort!

Inquiry

We have had lots of fun over the past two weeks as we prepare for our camp to Soverign Hill. We continued our work as miners as we dug up some 'gold nuggets' found in the sand pit. We had to purchase our license and dug madly to find the nuggets. Some groups were very sucsessful and found more than 1 nugget, others not so sucsessful. We then had to weigh the nuggets and collect our money. We have also been earning Pounds for great focus, extra effort in our work and just being all round amazing year 5s!

       Miles' Gold Scales

These gold field scales came from my Great Great Great Grandpa and are made of brass which is an alloy that does not rust. In the 1850’s you could not trust the bank to weigh your gold so he used the scales instead. These are very valuable considering the fact that the ones that are made nowadays are made of plastic. My Great Great Great Grandpa was in the gold rush so he used these scales.
