School and Vice Captain
The school holidays provided an important opportunity for reflection and preparation as we begin our final year. As Year 12, we have taken this time to set goals, reset our focus, and consider how we want to shape both our individual journeys and our collective experience.
As a leadership team, we are committed to making this final year memorable through a range of initiatives that strengthen school spirit and connection. We are currently planning a PAT (Prefect Afternoon Tea) to bring students together and create lasting memories, while also working on building stronger links across the school.
We are also currently aiming to connect our Year 8 and Year 4 leaders with our Senior SRC portfolio leaders to establish school-wide initiatives that encourage collaboration and inclusivity.
Finally, we are incredibly proud to announce that we will, in the following week, launch the first-ever SRC Canvas Page. This page will help improve communication, organisation and accessibility to SRC-created resources for all students. With the Canvas page, a student feedback form will be launched, allowing students to directly suggest improvements for St Luke’s to SRC leaders. Launching alongside this Canvas page are a range of many more amazing initiatives that the Portfolio leaders will discuss.
Connectivity and Inclusion
"Difference is of the essence of humanity. Difference is an accident of birth and it should therefore never be the source of hatred or conflict."
— John Hume
Hello everyone, it is your Connectivity and Inclusion Leaders Simran and Natasha, welcoming you back to Term 2!
This term, we are announcing a very exciting project that will play a key role in strengthening the community at St Luke’s. We are introducing student-driven clubs!
Have a passion or interest that you would like to celebrate with other people? Student-driven clubs will allow passionate students to initiate clubs to expand on this. The Google Form will be available on the Leadership Canvas page, releasing very soon, so please keep an eye out for that.
We’re also excited to share that, in collaboration with our Wellbeing Leaders, we will be promoting SchoolTV. SchoolTV is a valuable online resource designed to support parents and caregivers in navigating the challenges young people face today,
covering topics such as mental health, resilience, and overall wellbeing. A short promotional video will be available soon, so stay tuned.
As we move further into the term, we encourage all students to stay motivated and focused on their learning. Remember, growth doesn’t happen all at once—it’s built through small, consistent steps. Whether it’s committing to your studies, trying something new, or even starting or joining a club, every effort you make contributes to your journey and helps strengthen our school community. We please do reach out if help is needed.
Remember:
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
Creative Arts and Culture
Hi everyone, it’s your creative arts and cultural leaders here!
Last term, we helped plan, execute, and MC at St Luke’s annual multicultural day! It was a huge success, and we were very proud to see everyone dressed in their cultural clothing with pride and joy. It was also a pleasure to watch all of the talented performers sing, dance, and play instruments on the day!
This multicultural day was a major event, not only for our students, but for us as leaders, as this was our time to get creative and cultural, and it’s something we put a lot of time and effort into!
As of now, we’re turning our focus to what’s next. We’ve been thinking about hosting monthly art challenges followed by a theme. Importantly, these challenges aren’t supposed to just be artworks; they’re supposed to reflect on any artistic form you feel comfortable with(music, dance, art, etc.), and we’ll make sure to keep you updated on how that’s going, in upcoming newsletters!.
Thanks for reading, don’t forget to smile!
Mission and Faith
Hi everyone, it’s your Mission and Faith leaders, welcoming you all back to Term 2!
This term, as the month of May rolls around, we’ve started the month with a deeper focus on the Virgin Mary. During this month, Catholics are called to reflect on her example and grow in the faith through prayer and devotion. As such, we’ve introduced the Rosary as a recurring prayer in our midday schedule, where every Thursday we will pray a decade of the Rosary, focusing on a specific Mystery. For this month as well, we have organised daily rosary in the SOF Wizards class during lunchtime, where students can also have face to face prayer with one another.
What’s more, we have been planning closely with Father Gayan for an opportunity for students to be able to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. From Week 4 and onwards, students will now be able to meet with Father Gayan on Wednesdays to participate in the Sacrament, enabling students to slow down and reflect. This helps remind students of the importance and role of religion in life, as well as being a more practical outlet for students to practice their faith.
Another initiative to look out for is the school’s social outreach this term. In partnership with the St Vincent de Paul’s Society, there’ll be events such as the Vinnie’s Sleep Out, Vinnie's Van and Sandwich making. Keep an eye out for these events, as these are great ways to engage with core values and the community!
We look forward to seeing everyone get involved throughout the term.
This is Tim and Summer signing off!
Sport and Physical
Last term St Luke’s Hosted our second annual 7-12 athletics carnival at Blacktown International Sports Park. The day was marked by strong engagement, high levels of participation, and an enthusiastic atmosphere that carried through every event. From track races to field events, students showed both competitive spirit and house pride, contributing to a vibrant and inclusive day. It was especially encouraging to see so many students stepping outside their comfort zones and getting involved, whether competing, engaging in participation only events or cheering for their peers.
Looking ahead, there are also several exciting lunchtime activities currently being planned to further build on this momentum for K-4 students. Starting Week 3, these activities aim to provide students with more opportunities to stay active, socialise, and enjoy sport in a relaxed and inclusive setting. Some of the planned activities include games such as Bullrush, Golden Child, Rock Paper Scissors relay, Revenge Tag, and What’s the Time Mr Wolf? These are designed to be easy to run, engaging, and accessible for a wide range of students, running throughout the term at lunchtime thanks to the support of our whole leadership team who have each volunteered their time.
Overall, we aim to continue moving forward, fostering participation, school spirit, and enjoyment through both major events and everyday opportunities. With strong student involvement already evident, there is a solid foundation to build on for the rest of the year.
Stewardship
Hey St Luke’s community, it’s your stewardship leaders Kavya and Trishala!
This term, we are taking steps to care for our environment by getting everyone involved and encouraging small actions that can make a big difference. You might have already seen our Earth Week poster up on the Marketplace TV, and we hope it’s inspired you to start thinking about how you can help care for our common home.
One exciting project we are working on this term is bringing a Clean Up Day to our school! While we’re still working out the details, the goal is to get students involved in taking care of our shared spaces and building a stronger sense of responsibility for our environment.
We really want this to be something shaped by all of you, because your ideas and input matter. If you have any suggestions or things you’d like to see happen, we are always open to hearing them! If you see us around school, feel free to come up and have a chat, we’d love to hear your ideas and help turn student voices into action.
We’ve got lots of exciting things planned, so stay tuned, stay involved, and let’s keep working together to make a difference!
Wellbeing
Hey everyone, these are your Wellbeing Leaders!
Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, and this term we have continued to prioritise creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
Last term, we announced an initiative to run workshops led by senior students to assist high school students in their transition to high school, study techniques and subject selection. This term, we are continuing to work on this initiative with an expression of interest form finalised to be sent out very soon!
We also have plenty of resources available on the new SRC canvas page that cover everything from study techniques to help services. Closely working with Ms Arrow, we aim to keep uploading more resources like study notes, past papers and useful websites throughout the year to give students an easy access, all-in-one page.
One reminder we want to share with our school is that support is always available, whether that’s through trusted teachers, school counsellors, or external services. We will continue to work hard to create a school environment where everyone feels valued,
respected, and connected, regardless of their background or experiences.
Make sure to spread lots of love!
一 Your Wellbeing Leaders
House Leaders
Hey St Lukes! It’s your Einstein, Da Vinci, Mackillop, Teresa, Curie, and King house leaders. After the incredible momentum we built last term with house spirit through fun events such as the athletics carnival, your house leaders are beyond excited to keep that energy moving.
Across all houses this term, we have been working together to strengthen connection, collaboration, and student voice within our community, through allowing students within the various houses to be able to voice suggestions and ideas around engaging activities to raise house spirit, and of course, house points.
As House Leaders, our shared goal this term is to strengthen connection and participation across all houses through regular competitions and house activities, as well as allowing students to contribute to raising house spirit across sports, arts and the classroom.
Want to keep up with the scores? A house leader page is being published under the leadership canvas page with a link to the ongoing leaderboard. You can find many other resources, such as our emails, if you are interested in contacting us!
That's it from us, thanks!
House specific messages:
King House:
Hey King house it’s Diva! I’m eagerly looking forward to building our team spirit even beyond competition, as the year progresses I hope to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels proud to be part of King. I want us to show up for each other, get involved in events, and build connections that make our house feel like a community, not just a team. Let’s bring the energy, the pride, and make this year one to remember!
Curie House:
Hey Curie house, it’s your leader Aarya! I’m so proud of our house’s spirit for the past term and have truly enjoyed connecting with many members of the curie house during our super fun events, such as the athletics carnival. I’m very excited to connect with more of you beyond competitions and events, like within the classroom spaces to celebrate all of our wins. Let’s carry on the pride and dignity of Marie Curie as the year goes on!
Einstein House:
Hey Einstein House, it's your house leader, Riya! I just wanted to say how proud I am of everything we have achieved so far. The effort, energy, and house spirit from all of you hasn’t gone unnoticed and is what makes our house so strong. Looking ahead, I am very excited for the year to come!
Lets keep building our house spirit, teamwork and support for one another. If we keep working together, and lifting each other up there is so much more that we can achieve. Can’t wait to spend more time together and make more memories.
Go Einstein!!
Mackillop House:
Hey Mackillop House, it’s Natalia! This term, let’s focus on building momentum and continue working our way up the ladder together. Every competition or event, every bit of effort, and every person getting involved makes a difference. Whether you’re representing Mackillop in events or supporting from the sidelines, it all counts towards pushing us higher. Let’s stay consistent, bring the energy, and make sure we’re always moving forward. It’s our time to step up, get involved, and show what Mackillop can really do.
DaVinci House:
Hi Da Vinci house, Ravya here! Congratulations on your tremendous effort at the athletics carnival. Because of this amazing success, we are currently at the top of the leaderboard! WOOHOO. Even though I was under the weather, everyone made sure to scream at the top of their lungs, which was all worth it in the end. It was a super fun day, and I am so glad everyone went all in with their purple outfits. I would definitely like to see more participation across new initiatives. We don’t want to lose our top spot. Let us stay consistent with our house spirit to continue to reign supreme. Goooo Da Vinci!!
Teresa House:
Hey Teresa House, your House Leader, Sandra Here!! Good job at the athletics carnival, we made some good memories and made it in the top 3 for cheer, GOOD JOB. I love the support we had at the carnival. Let's bring it into all of our events. Let’s keep this House spirit up throughout this year and climb that leaderboard. I loved that everyone participated with the house colours and chants, and I can't wait for more opportunities for us to get together and show other houses what we have. Go Big, Go Blue, GOOOOO TERESSSAAAA!
