Compassionate Ballarat

We’re absolutely delighted to share that we’ve been included by Compassionate Ballarat in this year's Compassion Heroes book, in recognition of our work supporting the Mphatso Children's Foundation in Malawi through our Footy Colours Day.

It’s wonderful to see the collective efforts of our students and staff in making a positive impact on the lives of others recognised. We’re proud to stand alongside other schools in Ballarat who are doing remarkable work, sharing stories of compassion and kindness to inspire us all and congratulate them all on their efforts.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our school community - we couldn't have achieved this without the incredible support from you all. Thank you for being part of our journey towards creating a better world and empowering our young people to make a difference with compassion.

Let's continue spreading kindness and making a difference together!

CELEBRATING BALLARAT’S COMPASSION HEROES

At a time when we all have numerous stresses in our lives, it’s good for our mental health to recall that there are still many things to celebrate.

Compassionate Ballarat has just released a book that focuses on the inspiring actions of its young people.

Each year Compassionate Ballarat collects stories of compassion in action from our primary and secondary school students, and this year its Compassion Heroes publication focused specifically on the collective work happening in schools.

These stories encompass the remarkable work of Ballarat’s current students on food insecurity, homelessness, youth mental health, multicultural homework, anti-bullying, supporting young girls in developing countries, the benefits of being in nature to young children and those in aged care, committing to peace, supporting those in financial need, caring cross-generational exchanges, supporting nursery schools in Malawi, mentoring programs, tree planting for Landcare, and more.

This year’s book also highlighted the winner of the Compassion and Care Award, Ballarat Youth Awards - Keely’s Cause which enables access for children with disabilities from low-socio-economic backgrounds to connect with our world through the provision of iPads.

Stories are important because as Nivash Neil outlines at the beginning of this book – in today’s fast-paced, digitally driven world, storytelling remains jus as relevant as it has always been. In fact, it has become even more important in a world where we are often disconnected from one another and seeking ways to connect and understand others.

These stories provide a community-wide narrative of the ways in which compassion is being demonstrated by its city’s future leaders, indeed Compassionate Ballarat’s Youth representative Noah Quick concludes, ‘…as we will read in this book the outreach and impact, we are all able to have is immense’.
