Professional Learning Community 1 (Grade 1)

What an amazing start to the new school year our Grade 1 Students have had. Students have settled back into routine extremely well and have enjoyed making new friendships in their classes. We have been working on setting up our classroom expectations and exploring new subjects such as Music and Kitchen.

It has been wonderful to see so many students enjoy their home reading and remembering to get their diaries signed each night. We are working towards reaching our first home reading goal of 25 nights.

We cannot wait to invite families into our classrooms during the Open House to demonstrate the amazing work students have already demonstrated.

Professional Learning Community 2 (Grade 2)

Professional Learning Community 3 (Grade 3)

Welcome back to the 2024 school year for all Grade 3 students and their families! What a fantastic start to the year the students have had so far. It was wonderful to see and to be greeted on the first day of school with so many smiling and happy faces!

The students have had a calm and smooth start to the year where they are already establishing some positive routines. Within each class, the teachers have been discussing and establishing with the students the expected behaviour norms within the classroom and around the school. This will help maintain and establish positive behaviours throughout the year, in order for everyone to feel safe and to achieve the best that they possibly can.

There are so many exciting activities planned for the Grade 3s this year, the first excursion occurring already in Week 3. On Thursday Feb 15th and Friday Feb 16th the students will be heading off the Earth Ed, with 2 classes going each day (which classes are yet to be decided on which day). There will be a Compass notification being send out soon, so look out for this for further details. There will be no cost for this excursion.

Have a great week.

Thanks, from the Grade 3 team.

Professional Learning Community 4 (Grade 4)

Hello PLC4 Families,

Welcome back to another exciting school year! We hope that each of you had a restful and enjoyable summer break, filled with moments of joy and relaxation. As we embark on this new academic year, we are thrilled to welcome both familiar faces and new members to our school community.

Each classroom has been enjoying the Learning to Learn program. This program has been implemented in Literacy, Numeracy and Wellbeing and it has allowed each classroom to set up protocols, procedures and expectations that will continue to be used throughout the year. It has also been a wonderful time to get to know each of the students, both with their personal interests as well as learners.

Reminders:

  • We have swimming in week 3. This is a non-cost event. Please make sure that you have completed the consent form on Compass.
  • Home reading is to be completed each night with diaries bought to school every day. Please see the Compass post on Home Reading.

We are excited about the upcoming year and the endless possibilities it holds. Together, as a community, we will create an environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to a fantastic school year!

Sincerely,

PLC4 Teachers

Professional Learning Community 5 (Grade 5)

Welcome Back, Grade 5 Parents, Guardians and Carers!

We are thrilled to welcome you and your children back to a brand-new school year at Delacombe. The classrooms are once again bustling with excitement, and we can't wait to embark on this journey of learning and growth together.

In this first week back, it has been essential to establish routines and reinforce the importance of following rules both inside and outside the classroom. Routines provide structure and stability, helping our students feel secure and confident as they navigate their daily activities. Whether it's waking up at a consistent time each morning, completing our reading at home, or following classroom procedures, establishing routines fosters a sense of responsibility and discipline among our students. We place a strong emphasis on creating a positive and respectful learning environment where every student feels valued and heard.

We encourage parents to support their children in following classroom rules by reinforcing these expectations at home. Consistency is key, so establishing clear expectations and consequences for behaviour both at school and at home will help reinforce the importance of following rules in all settings.

The Grade 5 Sovereign Hill costumed school excursion is coming up fast… the 5th and 6th of March. We are finalising the last few details and a compass form will be sent out next week for the excursion. The rough cost of the excursion will be around $65. We are very much looking forward to this 2 day excursion as we know the will have an amazing time!

As we embark on this new school year together, let's work hand in hand to support our students in developing the skills they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. With your partnership and our dedicated team of educators, we are confident that this will be a year filled with growth, discovery, and achievement for each and every one of our Grade 5 students.

Thank you for your time, have a great day.

Professional Learning Community 6 (Grade 6)

What a busy week we have had already at Delacombe Primary School.  PLC6 welcomed 75 students to our first day of classes on Wednesday last week, split into three different classes.  Over the next few weeks, we are going through our Learning to Learn Program.  This is where we set the expectations for the rest of the year, as well as going through some important aspects of Delacombe Primary School, such as the Delacombe Express and our core values.

Outside of the classroom, our school captains have been in training ready to be a part of school tours for aspiring students and parents.  Our house captains have been busy trying to sign up people for our Lunchtime competitions, which are

Monday – Cricket

Tuesday – Dodgeball

Friday – Basketball

Reminder that you also get points for kindness and respect demonstrated to players of all teams and the umpires as well, not just for winning.

CAMP

A reminder that permission forms for Camp and a $50 deposit need to be paid by Monday 12th of February to confirm your child’s place on Camp.  Also, the full payment of $320 (inclusive of $50 deposit) or a payment plan needs to be made by the Wednesday 21st of February to allow your child to attend the Camp.

Once numbers are confirmed after the 12th of February, a handbook will be made available to students and parents/carers.

Thanks for reading, and look forward to seeing you all at our Open House on Monday, the 19th of February, 2024
