Meet the Year 9 Hub
Welcome to Year 9!
Year 9 is often a pivotal year for students as they navigate the middle teenage years and explore the possibilities of who they are and what ideas they have for their future. At year 9 we focus on 2 themes, Broadening Horizons and Exploring Possibilities. This is the last year they will be in the junior part of the school and they will be the leaders of the 8/9 building space. As such we encourage your child to make the best use of opportunities to participate in our college life this year and to model our college values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility with pride. This year we look forward to offering additional leadership and student voice opportunities, a year 9 camp and have worked hard to improve some of the internal spaces around the hub.
The start to term 1 will have a main focus on settling into a new routine. This includes a new set of class times, and an updated timetable. This is the last year your child will have an opportunity to complete the NAPLAN. It is important that we create an environment of support and rigour to ensure your child has the best chance to do their best. Please keep an eye out for more detailed information about this, and if you have any questions, please contact us. We will be holding regular assemblies where we will be sharing key dates, important information and opportunities.

Chemistry
In Chemistry this week the students looked at atom structure and how electrons can move. As part of this we had fun with the Van de Graff generator. It was a hair-raising experience.
