WELCOME A JAPANESE STUDENT INTO YOUR HOME

TOKONAME VISIT - HOST FAMILIES WANTED

For those of you who may not be aware, Brighton Secondary College has a strong and supportive relationship with its sister school in Tokoname, Japan. It’s about 40 minutes away from Nagoya and 4 hours from Tokyo.

Last year, in September, Tokoname High School hosted 15 Brighton Secondary College students as they lived the Japanese high school life, giving them an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience. (You can go back and look at past Highlights to see how much our students experienced whilst there.)

Now it’s time for us to return the favour!

We are kindly asking that the students and their families who attended the tour last year, to consider welcoming/hosting a Japanese student into their home and offer them the wonderful experience that you received in return.

Any students who are currently studying Japanese and are looking to go on the Japan tour in 2025, this would be an incredible opportunity for you to build a strong and life long friendship with a Japanese student, who knows maybe next year you will be able to stay in their home in return. (This may also improve the likelihood of being able to go on the tour).

This opportunity is also open to anyone who has an interest in the language or country and are able to welcome a Japanese student into their home. By welcoming someone into your home, you get to experience a different way of life and learn about their customs, traditions, and values. This can be an enriching and eye-opening experience for both parties and can help foster mutual respect and understanding.

Students from Tokoname are selected based on their attitude towards learning, behaviour at school and enthusiasm towards intercultural exchange meaning the chosen students are always very kind and keen to join in Australian home and school life! It is not only an experience for them but yourselves as well, making life-long friends!
