Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Each year on August 22nd, the Catholic Church celebrates the Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Queenship of Mary is a title given to Mary, the mother of Jesus. It means that Mary is honored as a queen because of her special role in God’s plan. This title recognises her important place in the Church and in the lives of believers. The Bible and the Church’s tradition tell us about Mary’s special role. She is seen as a loving mother and a caring queen. This helps us understand how she guides and protects us, just like a queen would care for her people.

The Church celebrates the memorial of the Queenship of Mary to remind us to honour Mary and to ask for her help. It is a time to remember her kindness and love for everyone. In our daily lives, we can think of Mary as a queen who watches over us. We can pray to her and ask for her guidance. She is always there to support us, just like a mother and a queen would do.
