Senior Mixed Hockey

Well done to our superb Senior Hockey team who competed at the School Sports Victoria State Championships on the 23rd of August. Competing at the Footscray Hockey Complex, the team had to play 3 pool games to qualify for the Grand Final. Winning their first match against Maribyrnong College 3-0, and followed by a hard fought draw against Notre Dame College 3-3, everything came down to the 3rd match against Mount Waverley Secondary College. The BSC team dug deep to play a very dominant game holding most of the play and peppering the goals throughout, but in heartbreaking circumstances, no score was made by either team resulting in a draw. A countback was forced as so many games were so close during the day, 1 point was all it took to miss out on making the final, what could have been. We are very grateful to have had the coaching talents of Mr O’Rourke throughout the series and Mrs Corben on the day as their knowledge was invaluable. Finally, an awesome display of skills and fitness by the team constantly problem solving in the heat of the moment throughout the series and being gracious in defeat.

Junior and Intermediate Basketball

It was great to have all teams represented in the Year 7/8, Intermediate Boys and Girls on Wednesday 28th August in the East Gippsland Basketball competition. Students showed slick skills and a passion for basketball during the day, seemingly enjoying the representative school sport experience. Having the Intermediate boys team win their first game with only four players was definitely a highlight of the day, and the consistency of the Intermediate girls team winning all 3 games to be our only team to progress further to Gippsland region on the 17th October in Traralgon. Many thanks to our coaches Mr Johnson in the lead up, Mrs Foster and Mr Perry on the day, scorers Titus and Oscar, umpires Lachie, Oliver, Charlotte and Lillyarna for supporting the students and a fantastic event.

Year 7 and 8 Table Tennis

Our Year 7 students stood tall nominating 2 teams to compete in the 7’s and 8’s mixed competition under the guidance of Mr Keane.  Competing against Mallacoota, Swifts Creek, Nagle College and Lakes Entrance was a fun and engaging experience for the 8 students. Proving they can be super competitive and acknowledging the College's core values showed great leadership from our youngest and most enthusiastic students. Congratulations to Oscar, Lukas, Kiane, Rasha, on progressing through to the next level as well as Quinn, Noah, Seth, and Jacob for stepping up to Yr 8 competition and competing so well.
