STRENGTHS

At our school, we believe in the power of character strengths to shape our community and help each student shine. Character strengths are the positive qualities that influence how we think, feel, and behave. By focusing on these strengths, we can support each other in becoming the best versions of ourselves.

This fortnight, we are focusing on the character strength of Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence. This means noticing and valuing the wonderful things around us—like nature, art, and even the efforts of others. When we appreciate beauty, we take time to enjoy a colorful sunset, a beautiful piece of music, or the kindness of a friend. Recognising excellence means celebrating hard work, talent, and dedication in ourselves and others, whether it’s a classmate’s art project, a great sports performance, or a personal achievement. Let’s practice this strength by looking for the beauty and excellence in our everyday lives!

‘Mental Health Matters’ - Lyndhurst Primary School Whole School Wellbeing Day

We are excited to announce that Lyndhurst Primary School will be hosting our Whole School Wellbeing Day on Thursday, 12th September! This year’s theme is “Mental Health Matters,” highlighting the importance of caring for our mental wellbeing. Did you know that around one in seven children aged 4-17 years experience a mental health disorder in a given year? Additionally, research shows that developing positive mental health habits early on can have a significant impact on overall happiness, academic success, and relationships.

Kickstarting the Day with Fun and MovementThe day will begin at 8:30 am in the courtyard with fun physical activities and dancing to get everyone energized and smiling! Fresh fruit will be available to enjoy, promoting healthy eating as a key part of overall wellbeing.

Engaging Workshops for All AgesThroughout the day, students will participate in a variety of engaging workshops designed to educate them on improving, maintaining, and celebrating their mental health. These interactive sessions will cover topics such as mindfulness, managing emotions, expressing feelings creatively, and understanding the importance of self-care.

Dress to ExpressTo make the day even more fun, we invite students to express their feelings by dressing as an emotion! This could be as simple as wearing a color that represents a particular mood, sporting a smiley face jumper, or getting creative by dressing up as a favorite character from the movie "Inside Out." It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to explore and celebrate emotions in a safe and supportive environment.

We Can’t Wait to Celebrate! We are looking forward to this fantastic day of learning, movement, and fun. Let’s make it a memorable event that reinforces the importance of mental health and wellbeing for all our students!
