CHATHAM CHALLENGES

Perhaps you have been to Greece or know some Greek words.  Have you seen pictures of Ancient Greek buildings that still stand today? Even after 3,000 years, we're still using ancient Greek ideas in maths, science and art. Our alphabet is based on the Greek one. Hundreds of words we use come from the Greek language.Can you recognize their architecture in buildings in your home city? Learn to draw the columns in the buildings. How far did Pheidippides run at Marathon? Then what? Why did so many new ideas arise in Ancient Greece? What battle strategy was used successfully 2500 years later? Compare Australia and the first democracy in Athens. Learn to debate like they did. Try your hand at their kind of art.  Or was it a craft? Great thinkers lived then so we will try some of their experiments. Why did so many things today come from Ancient Greece in the first place?  Have fun learning all of this and more.

Chatham Challenges Application for 4th Term 2024

This program is available for all Year 1 - 6 students who have qualified for Chatham Challenges.

The unit for fourth term commences week beginning Monday, 21st October 2024.

The unit will run for 8 weeks commencing: Monday 21st Oct, 28th Oct, 4th Nov, 11th Nov, 18th Nov, 25th Nov, 2nd Dec.
