Specialist Feature News - Indonesian & Marrung

Selamat Siang semuanya,

Welcome to Term 4!

In the Senior School our 5/6 students have learnt about more Indonesian cuisines and spent time comparing and contrasting similarities and differences between food that we eat in our home, compared to everyday Indonesian foods. We also learnt some more vocabulary and pronunciation of Indonesian foods and phrases.

3/4 students have received their responses from their pen-pals in Jakarta! This week, students worked on responses learning how to share information about the current weather and answer some of the questions in the letter! We look forward to continuing this partnership!

In the Junior School, Foundation students have been learning about colours. Students learnt the names of the colours of the rainbow and practiced naming and writing and categorising the colours with everyday objects.  1 /2 students learnt about the Indonesian coat of arms and we explored different countries coats of arms before creating our own!

This week for Professional Development afterschool, our teachers participated in a Marrung PD to deepen and implement our understanding of authentic, valuable First Nations culture and lessons into our curriculum. Teachers planned for short and long term goals and participated in co-creating an art piece for each office space using symbols we learnt about with our Artist in residence, Sam Richards.
