Selamat Siang,
Welcome back to the final term of Year 1 and Year 2! The students have settled back into routines and learning well.
In Phonics, students been learning about the /oo/ sound and all the different spellings (oo, u, ue, u_e, ew, ui). Some words we have learned and viewed are balloon, kangaroo, super, blue, glue, include, parachute, flew, blew, bruise, and cruise.
In Mathematics, Students have had fun exploring large number all the way up to trillions and learning about 'place value houses' to support us in understanding and reading really large numbers. Ask your child to explain this concept to you! It has been challenging but extremely fun!
We began our history guided inquiry unit 'Back in Time, Past and Present', focussing on techology. Students have been exploring what house hold applicances people used and had back in time by looking at real devices and reading texts about what life was like in the 1800's.
The much anticipated Year 1 Late Stay and Year 2 Sleepover is coming up on Friday the 7th of November. Information about the event and the permission forms and payment can be accessed via Compass. Students are SO excited about their first school camp experience and we have been beginning to discuss this in our classes. If you have any questions about the event please see your child's teacher.
Have a great week,
Miss Emmett, Em Glen & Jonny Hobbs, Katrina Chooi, Miss Shaye, Cassie Brisbane & Beth Szentesi
