Independence Centre

Highlight
Selamat siang,
Welcome to Term 4 in the Independence Centre. We have jumped straight back in to learning this week and the students have done a wonderful job! In English we have begun reading "The Last Bear" by Hannah Gold. It follows the journey of a young girl "April" who goes with her dad to a tiny island in the Arctic Circle to study weather patterns.
In Mathematics, we have been reviewing the four operations (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) but with an added level of difficulty--using decimal numbers. Students have done a great job transferring their knowledge to new areas.
In Guided Inquiry, students have explored how every person has different needs. They have briefly explored different viewpoints such as limited sight and hearing, sensory sensitivity and mobility. We then looked at how Universal Design can ensure that products, services and places are accessible to all people and the different ways this can be implemented.
Next week, CAMP! We are so excited. Packing lists have been sent home (via google classroom) as well as medication forms. We are so excited and can't wait to head to Portsea next week.
Stay warm and have a wonderful week ahead,
Kathy, Ros, Julia, Mandy, Suzie and Emily
