Religious Education

Dear Parents and Carers

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 18th, is the Feast Day of St Luke, our school’s patron saint. St Luke was a gifted writer, physician, and companion of St Paul, best known for authoring the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. His writings beautifully highlight Jesus’ compassion, healing, and care for the poor and marginalized—values that inspire our school community every day.

At St Luke’s Catholic Primary School, we honour St luke's legacy by striving to live with kindness, courage, and faith. This week, students have been learning about St Luke’s life and contributions through prayer, storytelling, and creative activities.

At today's school assembly our Grade 6 students led us through prayer to give thanks for St Luke and all we are grateful for at school.

May we continue to follow St Luke's example of love and service, and may his Feast Day remind us of the special mission we share as a community of faith.

Grade 1 & 2 Visit to Kyabram Fauna Park

Last week, our Grade 1 and 2 students enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Kyabram Fauna Park, where they had the chance to explore and learn about Australia’s unique wildlife.

I was privileged to join the Grade One students last Thursday. The children were thrilled to see a variety of animals, including kangaroos, echidnas, meerkats, dingoes, and wombats.

Throughout the day, our students demonstrated exceptional behaviour and a positive attitude, making us incredibly proud.

They engaged eagerly with the park’s exhibits and asked thoughtful questions, showing a genuine interest in learning more about Australian fauna.

Experiences like these play a vital role in helping students connect classroom learning with the natural world. We thank Kyabram Fauna Park for a memorable day and look forward to providing future excursions for our students.

New Flag Poles Installed at St Luke’s

We’re excited to share that new flag poles have been erected at St Luke’s Catholic Primary School! These proudly display the Australian Flag, the Torres Strait Islander Flag, and the Aboriginal Flag, positioned at the front of our new building within the school grounds.

As part of this project, our original flag poles were refurbished and relocated, and two brand-new flag poles were installed to complete the display. This upgrade reflects our commitment to honouring the diverse cultures and histories that shape our country and school community.

Each day, our Grade 6 student leaders take on the important responsibility of raising the flags in the morning and respectfully lowering them at the end of the school day. Their dedication and leadership are a wonderful example to all.

We look forward to holding an official flag-raising ceremony in the coming weeks to formally acknowledge the installation and celebrate this meaningful addition to our school.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

St Brendan’s Parish,

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.

Are you searching for more peace in your life, do you feel something is missing in your life?

The RCIA process leads people through what the Catholic church believes and teaches. Our focus is on how the church and our faith lead us to a relationship with God, through joining a community of faith.

The RCIA process begins on Thursday the 9th of Oct at 7.30pm in the St Brendan’s Pastoral centre, with an enquiry night.

The role of sharing our faith with others is central to our own faith, this sometimes happens through us asking a question, or listening as others ask questions.

The RCIA team of MaryAnne Demase, Geoff Woodhouse, Sr Hartini and myself lead the process on behalf of Our Parish please keep us in your prayers and seek to be informed on what is happening in the RCIA process and who is involved.

Any questions can be directed to Anthony 58212633 Tuesday or Thursday.
