Education in Faith

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C
Theme: Never Give Up Praying! Luke 18:1–8
(The Parable of the Persistent Widow)
Jesus told his friends a story so they would always pray and never give up.There was a judge who did not care about God or people. A widow kept coming to him, asking for justice. At first, he ignored her but she did not stop asking! Finally, the judge said, “Even though I do not care about God or people, I’ll give her what she wants because she keeps bothering me.”
Jesus said, “If even a stubborn judge can do what’s right in the end, imagine how much more your loving Father in heaven will listen to you! But when the Son of Man comes, will he find people still full of faith?”
Reflection for Families
In this Sunday’s readings we are reminded that God always listens, even when we feel like nothing is happening. Jesus teaches us to keep praying not because God forgets, but because prayer helps us keep trusting.
In the first reading, Moses gets tired while praying for his people. His friends Aaron and Hur hold up his arms so he can keep going. That shows us something important:When we get tired or lose hope, our family and friends can help us keep our faith strong.
Sometimes our prayers aren’t answered the way we expect, or as quickly as we want. But Jesus wants us to remember that God’s love never stops working even when we can’t see it yet.
Prayer is not magic; it’s a relationship. When we pray together as a family, we remind each other that God is with us, listening, and guiding us every day.
Discussion Starters
The Widow’s Example:~ Why do you think the widow kept asking the judge for help even when he didn’t listen?
~ What does this teach us about talking to God?
Our Prayer Life:~ When do you like to pray the most when you’re happy, worried,
thankful, or asking for help?~ How does prayer make you feel?
- Helping Each Other:~ In the story of Moses, his friends helped him when he got tired.~ Who helps you keep going when things are hard?~ How can we help each other keep believing and praying?
God’s Timing:~ Have you ever prayed for something that didn’t happen right away?~ How can we keep trusting God even when we don’t see the answer
yet?
Faith in Action:Jesus asks, “Will the Son of Man find faith on earth?”~ What are some ways we can show faith as a family this week through
kindness, forgiveness, or helping others?
Let us Pray:
Dear God,Thank You for always listening to us, even when we have to wait.Help us to keep praying and never give up hope.Give us hearts full of faith and patience.May we encourage each other, just like Moses’ friends helped him. We know You hear us because You love us.
Amen.

MINI VINNIES TWILIGHT MARKET STALL
Mini Vinnies are now working towards the Twilight Market and our Nail Polish/Temporary Tattoos/Remembrance Day Badges Stall.
The action team Mini Vinnies have done slides and posters to advertise our stall. Wednesday the lunchtime Mini Vinnies began to practise their skills in applying nail polish which the action team Mini Vinnies will do next Monday.
This year we are asking for a gold coin donation. Sr. Rochelle, from the Salesian congregation, came to visit and spoke with our senior students about - ‘Women Empowering Women’ and Faith in Action. She shared her powerful work supporting the development of young girls and women through missions in the Solomon Islands and Samoa. Mini Vinnies have decided that the money we raise at our stall will be donated to Sr Rochelle.
