Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope
At St Joseph's we believe in fostering a spiritual environment that encourages reflection and gratitude throughout the school day.
Morning Prayer
Every morning, before the start of learning activities, all students participate in a brief period of reflection. This will involve listening to a hymn or a pre-selected prayer.
Grace Prayers (Before Recess and Lunch)
Before both recess and lunch, students recite a grace prayer.
End-of-Day Prayer Circle
At the end of each school day, students participate in a prayer circle. During this time, students :
Sit in a circle with their classmates.
Each student will be offered rosary beads to hold.
When it is their turn, students are invited to offer a prayer. The prayer begins with the phrase "Dear God, I would like to say a prayer for..." and concludes with "Lord, hear us, Lord, hear our prayer."
Students who do not wish to offer a prayer respectfully pass the rosary beads to the next child without explanation. Participation in offering an individual prayer is voluntary.
Then we finish the day with reflecting on what is one thing that they really enjoyed during the day. This way we always finish on a happy thought.
This term we focus on helping students from our Parish Priest, Father Kingsley’s home in Africa. Father Kingsley grew up in Owerri, a city in Nigeria. Each year when father returns home to visit his family he tries to bring something practical to help the poor. So we are asking that our students bring stationery items suitable for a primary school student in Nigeria eg coloured pencils, textas, crayons, small notebooks, rubbers, sharpeners or colouring books. Each class will have a container that they can add to any time during this term. Thank you in advance because I know our community will be very generous.
