Exploring Mass in Foundation Our Foundation students have been busy investigating the concept of mass through hands-on exploration. Using balance scales and engaging in "hefting" activities, they’ve been comparing objects to discover which are heavy and which are light.

Grade 1 Excursion - Ballarat Wildlife Park

On Tuesday, 2nd September, the Grade 1 classes embarked on an exciting excursion to Ballarat Wildlife Park. This term in Inquiry, we’ve been exploring the needs of plants and animals, focusing on how different species adapt to survive in various habitats. We've especially enjoyed learning how animal features help them thrive in specific environments.

The Wildlife Park was a fantastic way to bring our learning to life. We explored a range of carefully designed habitats, each mimicking the natural environments of the animals who live there. Highlights of the day included feeding kangaroos, watching the tigers do their boundary walk, and seeing Crunch, the incredible five-metre-long crocodile, up close!

The students were fantastic throughout the day—curious, respectful, and engaged—and it was a pleasure to see their learning in action.

A big thank you to all the parents for preparing your children for the early start and for your patience with the late pick-up. Your support helped make the day a great success!

Grade 2 News

This month is world creation month and aligns perfectly with our Religion Unit, Let’s Care for Creation! The children have been busy this week exploring the beauty and wonder of creation and took a walk outside to study creation close up with magnifying glasses. We reflected upon how each part of creation is full of incredible detail and beauty and how each thing is unique. The children then sketched some amazing artworks of their favourite part of creation found in our school yard.

Father’s Day Biscuit Baking

In the lead up to Father’s Day, our students enjoyed a fun and hands-on activity – baking chocolate chip cookies for their dads (and special father figures). The classroom was filled with smiles, laughter, sugar and very sticky fingers.

The children loved shaping and decorating their cookies, and I'm sure sneaking a few chocolate chips along the way! Each batch was baked with love, ready to be gifted as a sweet surprise this Father’s Day.

We hope all our fantastic father figures enjoy their special treats and have a wonderful day celebrating with their families.

5/6 Unit News

To celebrate the end of reading Tom Appleby - Convict Boy some of the year 5 and 6 students made replicas of the boats from the First Fleet and attached their information texts as sails.  The students really enjoyed learning about life for those on the First Fleet, the impact they had on First Nations Australian's and settling into life after being a convict.

We will now begin the novel The Grandest Bookshop in the World, based on a real book arcade in Melbourne in the late 19th century. Ask your students what they know about it so far.

Resource Recovery Education

We had Amelia and Gabe from the City of Greater Bendigo Resource Recovery Education team come speak to us about how we can improve our environmental impact with making sure we are recycling properly and steps we can take to improve the life of a waste product, such as glass, so it can be turned into something new. The students really enjoyed the sessions.
