FAQs

What should I pack in my child’s lunchbox?

A balanced mix of healthy foods works best something for brain break, something for morning snack, and an something for lunch, if needed. Keep portions manageable and easy to open.

Can my child share food with their friends?

No, children are not allowed to share food. This helps keep everyone safe, especially those with allergies.

Are birthday cakes / lolly bags / gift bag allowed?

No. We don’t distribute cakes, lollies, or other birthday treats at school. We make sure birthdays are celebrated in special ways that don’t involve food.

How long do children have to eat?

Children are given around ten minutes of dedicated eating time before they play. During this time, they’re encouraged to sit and eat.

Will someone help my child if they can’t open something?

Yes, teachers and staff supervise eating times and will always help if needed. It’s also a good idea to practice opening any containers or packets at home, so your child can be more independent.

What if my child isn’t eating enough, or comes home with food left over?

It’s quite common for new students to eat a little less at school as they adjust. Check in regularly with your child to see if the amount feels right. You’re always welcome to contact your child’s teacher if you’re concerned.

Can teachers keep special snacks for my child?

No teachers will not store or supply food for students. We ask that all food comes from home in your child’s lunchbox each day, as we can’t store or distribute food at school.

If a child forgets their lunch the school will:

  1. call a parent
  2. request lunch to be brought in OR if parents are working
  3. request permission to supply a basic cheese toastie or popcorn sna
