Canberra Excursion

What a wonderful adventure our Stage 3 class had on our recent excursion to Canberra! From Monday, 11th August, to Friday, 15th August, our young people and skilled helpful adults explored Australia's capital.
We dove right into the heart of our democracy with a fascinating visit to Parliament House. The students participated in some activities, acting as parliamentarians and debating important national issues. We also paid our respects at the Australian War Memorial and learned all about the electoral process at the Electoral Education Centre.
The trip was a fantastic blend of history and fun. We enjoyed the panoramic views from Mount Ainslie, explored the intricate miniature worlds at Cockington Green Gardens, and saw how Australia's sporting heroes train at the Australian Institute of Sport. The interactive science exhibits at Questacon were a huge hit, as was getting up close with the animals at the National Zoo and Aquarium.
This excursion was a success, providing our young people with a hands-on learning experience that brought their classroom studies to life.

Students from our school have recently undertaken an educational tour of the national capital. Students have been given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $135 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
