Principal's Report

Tim Furphy, Principal

With a little taste of Spring last week the Winter has really come back in full force this week. We have three weeks left of Term 3, with Swimming for 2-6s and an excursion to Bendigo Discovery Centre for F/1s. This is a very busy newsletter with plenty of highlights, information and celebrations. I hope you enjoy reading what's been going on at NPS!

LIBRARY

We're in the middle of a mini library do-over with the cleansing of some older (and less borrowed) books. As I said at assembly, we're offering these up to families if they'd like to fill their bookshelves. Please come in and check them out, take as many as you'd like! We want them in the hands of young readers, not sitting/staying on our shelves.

PARENT OPINION SURVEY

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is open for you to complete. This is a valuable tool for us to monitor community feedback and look for areas of improvement across our school. We encourage all families to complete it, please help us by providing your valuable insight. Please see the Compass message earlier this week for login details.

FATHERS DAY BBQ

Our student leader team has organised a Fathers Day BBQ for Friday the 5th of September from 2:30pm onwards. They will be helping to cook some sausages on the BBQ, hopefully you can come in an join in some games inside and outside. As the leaders said at assembly, all fathers, grandparents and guardians are absolutely welcome to attend and join the fun. Please let us know if there are any special dietary requirements for those attending so we can arrange the appropriate food. We hope to see you here so we can celebrate the important people you are! **This will replace our fortnightly assembly, with our next assembly to be held on the last day of term**

SUNSMART - THE TIME FOR HATS ARE BACK

Despite the cold this week, our SunSmart period is on its way... In Victoria sun protection is recommended when the UV reaches 3 and above. Therefore, from Monday 1st September students will be asked to wear hats when outside in the yard during recess, lunch, outside learning or sports class and then from Monday 8th September ALL students will be required to have their hat when outside. Students without hats will be asked to sit in a sheltered play area. There is a one-week grace period to give families time to find students hats, or to purchase a new hat from Eduthreads. ASSEMBLY

We want to keep sharing the great things happening around our school. Assembly is a great chance for you to come and hear about these things, celebrate the kids achievements and have a bit of a chat to other families. Our next assembly will be Friday on the 19th of September (on the last day of term) . ALL FAMILIES are welcome and encouraged to come along.
