6 March 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,
International Women’s Day – Give To Gain
Today, as a school community, we honour International Women’s Day to be held on Sunday 8 March. First held in 1911, it is a day that invites us to reflect on the extraordinary contributions women make in our lives, our workplaces, and our world.
The 2026 International Women’s Day theme, Give To Gain, reminds us of a powerful truth: when we give generously of our respect, time, support, and opportunities, we all benefit. Giving is not a subtraction; it is intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.
International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the strength, wisdom, and compassion that women bring to every part of society, while also acknowledging the ongoing work required to ensure equity, respect, and opportunity for all. The Give To Gain message challenges us to think collaboratively and generously about how we support one another, knowing that shared progress is built through collective effort.
This morning, our Human Resources Advisor, Sarah Gillett, organised a beautiful staff morning tea in honour of International Women’s Day, creating a warm, celebratory yet thoughtful space for reflection. Academic Development Coordinator, Mr John Hargreaves, spoke and encouraged us to pause and honour the women who have shaped us; mothers, teachers, mentors, colleagues, and friends.
As a school community on this day, we reflect on how the lessons, values, and quiet strength of the women at the College, continue to guide the work we do every day. We are reminded that the influence of women is often carried quietly but deeply, woven into the way we teach, lead, and support one another.
Personally, I am deeply thankful to be immediately surrounded by smart, insightful, and brilliant women who serve on the College Leadership Team. I am also grateful that our College is enriched by many women, both teachers and support staff, who model excellence, generosity, and integrity every day, providing our students with living examples of what it means to be a good person. Their willingness to give of themselves strengthens our community and, in turn, helps all of us grow.
International Women’s Day is not only a celebration; it is a call to action. The Give To Gain theme encourages us to recognise that when we actively invest in fairness, inclusion, and opportunity, we create environments where everyone can flourish. As educators, both teachers and parents alike, we play a vital role in modelling respect, fostering inclusion, and empowering every student, especially our girls, to see themselves as capable, valued, and full of potential.
Let us continue to uplift the women in our community, to listen to their experiences, and to champion a culture where generosity of spirit leads to shared success. May today inspire us to keep building a College environment where equality is lived, not just spoken about, and where the contributions of women – past, present, and future – are honoured every day.
Warm wishes for an enjoyable weekend,
Greg Miller
