ATTENDANCE CELEBRATION:
Regular school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of learner success, and it is wonderful to celebrate the commitment our learners and families show every day.
We are SO proud to share some fantastic attendance achievements so far this term across the school:
- 328 students have maintained attendance above 95%
- 199 students have achieved an impressive attendance above 98%
- 150 students have reached a perfect 100% attendance; an outstanding effort!
These numbers reflect the strong partnership between our learners, families, and staff in making school attendance a priority. Every day at school provides valuable learning opportunities, social connections, and experiences that support growth. Well done everyone!
BEHAVIOUR UPDATE:
We are thrilled to share that there has been a 35% decrease in high-level behaviours in Term One compared to last year. This is a significant milestone for our school community and reflects the positive impact of the systems and strategies we have been putting in place through Classroom Mastery and our Behaviour Framework and supporting policies. We sincerely thank all our families for their ongoing support, collaboration, and reinforcement of these processes at home. Your partnership is helping create a safer, more positive environment for our children to learn and thrive!
PRIDE AWARD:
Congratulations to Class 2D for earning the PRIDE award this week, based on the number of house points they collected. You are demonstrating excellent adherence to the SME rules with pride. Well done! Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Hay mentioned they could not be prouder.
ECHUCA MOAMA DISCOVERY DAY
On Saturday the 14th, Mrs. Hassett, Miss Toll, and Mrs. Chapman supported Byron and Clara Taylor, Piper Hasset, Tex Chapman and Aisha Bourke, who represented SME at the Echuca Moama Discovery Day. The group managed an arts and crafts table that engaged many young children, families, and grandparents in various activities. Feedback from the day indicated that the SME learners were respectful, helpful, and represented SME with great pride. Congratulations to all involved for helping us strengthen our support within the local community.
GIRLS ON THE RIZE:
We are very excited to share that applications for Girls on the Rize (GOTR) for Term Two are now open! Like any meaningful opportunity at SME, this program involves a thorough application and selection process to ensure it best supports the leaners who will benefit most.
Application forms have been distributed to classroom teachers today. Any female learners in Year 5 or 6 are encouraged to apply. Girls on the Rize focuses on providing early intervention strategies for young women who may have experienced challenges or adverse impacts in their lives. The program is designed to support, guide, and encourage participants to set meaningful goals and work towards achieving them within a safe and supportive group environment.
Once applications are received, they are carefully reviewed against a set of criteria before final participants are selected. Families of successful applicants will be contacted first, prior to learners being notified, as we understand that participation may not suit every circumstances. If your child has attended in 2025, they will be ineligible to attend again in 2026.
The program will run as a full-day session every Tuesday for five weeks during Term 2. Dates are to be confirmed in the coming week, however they will not impact any existing SME events such as camp. We encourage interested children to speak with their teacher and submit an application. This is a valuable opportunity for growth, connection, and empowerment. Applications close Friday 27th of March at 3PM.
