Nossalonians Experience the Thrill of MotoGP at Phillip Island

Over 20 students from Nossal High School had the opportunity of a lifetime when they attended the MotoGP™ at Phillip Island on Friday 20 October, 2023. The students were part of a special program organized by the school to give them a behind-the-scenes look at the world of MotoGP and to experience the excitement of the race firsthand.

**A Day to Remember**

The students arrived at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit early on Friday morning to get ready for a day of action. Students were allowed to go on track and be present for the acknowledgement to country and even got to see some of the bikes up close.

In the afternoon, the students were treated to a special viewing of the MotoGP™ Free Practice 1 and 2 sessions. They were amazed by the speed and skill of the riders as they navigated the challenging Phillip Island circuit.

One of the highlights of the day for the students was when they were allowed to take home some race-worn tires. The tires, which were raced by the oceanic junior cup winner were given to some lucky Nossal students. The pit crew made the day of a few lucky students. Our very own action photographer, Mr Pegram took some brilliant photos and truly captured the heat of the moment.

The Nossalonian students had an unforgettable experience at the MotoGP™ Grand Prix. They learned a lot about the world of MotoGP, and they were thrilled to be able to see the best riders in the world compete in person. The students were also grateful to the school for organizing the event and for Ms Alvarez, Mr Pegram and Mr Ratnayake for attending. They said it was an opportunity they would never forget.

Opportunities are now open for 2024

We are now recruiting host students and their families who would like to host a French student for a week in February, next year. In conjunction with Lycee Felix le Dantec, Nossal staff will arrange the program of experiences for our visitors which include some activities to involve host 'parents, brothers and sisters'.

Experience suggests, the friendships forged during a stay like this become life long and will in no doubt contribute to the choice of Nossal students making the return trip to France in 2025 while also consolidating the links during the recent tour.

To find out more about what is involved in being a host family and to record your interest, please respond to Madame Sly (Yvonne.Sly@nossalhs.vic.edu.au) as soon as possible. Initial planning for the le Dantec visit has begun and it is important for us to identify our host families soon.

Please consider your family's participation in this wonderful opportunity.
