Sport

It has been another busy fortnight in PE, here are some of the highlights!

SSV Eastern Regional Basketball Finals

Congratulations to our Level 5/6 Boys Basketball team who competed at the Regional finals last week. The Regional finals are made up of the best 12 teams out of 400 schools in Eastern Victoria. Against tough opposition the boys showed great determination leaving it all out on the court. All three games were very high scoring and close showing that our Boys could match it with the best, we are so proud of them! Thank you again to all the parents who supported the Boys throughout these rounds of competition.

Results as follows;

vs Serpell PS (Loss 40-45)

vs Belgrave Sth PS (Win 44-27)

vs Montrose PS (Loss 35-41)

Rangeview Badminton Tournament

This week kicked off Round 1 of our Rangeview Badminton Tournament, where over 250 students from Levels 2 to 6 have enrolled to participate in the school-run tournament during lunchtimes throughout the upcoming month. We extend our gratitude to our fantastic Level 5 students for their support in setting up and umpiring during the opening round of this student-led competition. The tournament comprises both a Middle Years (Levels 2-4) and a Senior School (Levels 5-6) competition, culminating in a Grand Final between the last remaining teams in the school at the end of November.

State Volleyball Championships

Congratulations to our 52 students who competed at the Victorian Volleyball Championships last week. It was an exciting day of competition, providing our students with the opportunity to showcase their volleyball skills against teams from across Eastern Victoria. We are immensely proud of how our students represented the school, both on and off the court.

Our Level 5/6 A and B teams were crowned champions in their respective competitions, while our Level 3/4 A team also achieved victory in their competition. Go Rangeview!

Australian Olympian Visit - Domonic Bedggood

Last Friday, our Level 5/6 students were treated to a special visit from Australian Olympic Diver Dominic Bedggood. Our students had the opportunity to participate in a talk about how Dom became an Olympian, the effort, and determination he displayed in both his sport and school as a child, as well as the challenges he faced along the way. The students engaged in a Q&A session and had the chance to witness Dom showcasing some of his amazing skills!

Melbourne Stars Visit

Last Monday, our Level 3 students were treated to a visit from the Melbourne Stars WBBL team. The students had the opportunity to participate in fun cricket activities led by players from the team. Additionally, they engaged in a Q&A session and were able to take home some Melbourne Stars memorabilia. We extend our thanks to Haylee Bryant, the Heatherdale Cricket Club, and Cricket Victoria for their support on that day. Don't forget to check out the upcoming Melbourne Stars Women vs Sydney Sixers Women WBBL game at Jubilee Park Ringwood on Wednesday, November 8th, from 3 to 6 pm. Entry is free!

They will participate in modified Athletics activities in the morning and enjoy fun sprints on the oval in the afternoon.
