Spotlight on Students

2M

During English, 2M have been learning how to write persuasive texts. Students came into class and noticed that all the chairs in the class had quit! This fun interactive lesson consisted of them writing a letter to persuade the chairs that they were complaining a bit too much. We informed them of our opinion to STOP complaining!

Attendance - the Importance of arriving on time

Arriving at school and class on time:

  • Ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day
  • Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
  • Give students time to greet their friends before class
  • Reduces classroom disruption
  • Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents.

The Anxiety Project

The Anxiety Project is a project designed by psychologist, Michael Hawton, and the NSW Primary Principals’ Association to assist primary students to manage their anxious behaviour. Michael Hawton is also the founder of Parentshop, providing education and resources for parents/carers and industry professionals working with children. This article, ‘Digital devices during family time could exacerbate bad behaviour’ which is the fourth of a series of six articles, presents the research around the impact of technology and useful tips on setting boundaries with devices.
