GYMNASTICS STATE CHAMPION!!!!

Lara Thorn recently won the State Gymnastics Championship she has provided a report below. Well Done Lara!

Hi everyone, my name is Lara and I am in Grade 6. On Sunday 15th October, I competed in my very first VIC State Championships in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) at the Geelong Arena in the ALP Level 5 division.

There were close to 80 gymnasts from all over Victoria who competed in my division level. All the talented gymnasts worked hard to qualify for this event with only the best from each club making it through.

I competed in 4 apparatus – Balance Beam, Vault, Uneven Bars and Floor. My favorite apparatus is Floor as I get to perform a routine with music and perform tumbling skills such as round-off back handsprings and flips on the sprung floor.

When all the gymnasts finished their rotations, we lined up for the results & presentations. I was thrilled to hear my name announced as the 2023 VIC State Floor Champion & Gold Medallist! This has been an unforgettable experience that I’m glad I got to share with my teammates, coach, and family!
