Kindness

What does kindness mean to you?

Quick Comeback

An intricate part of our values and beliefs at Lysterfield is the notion of being kind. Daily students show their kindness towards others but equally, they are experiencing others being unkind.

To align with the UrStrong program we are modeling with students how to navigate unkind remarks, play, and actions. They are filling their toolboxes with “quick comes backs” strategies, how to stick up for others, and how to navigate situations of “mean on purpose” or a “friendship fire”

To help us all grasp kindness more fully the students are explaining what kindness is and isn’t.

Kindness is...

  • Treating people how you want to be treated - Zoe 5B
  • Being fair, no matter how different others may be - Oliver 5T
  • People are kind when they help each other - Kiara 2MD
  • When someone lets you play in their game they are kind - Ollie 1PA
  • It is to try and let others play in your game when you or they are sad. - Jet 1T
  • To give you lots of hugs and play with you - Henry Prep
  • When I am hurt they get a yard duty teacher to help me - Krish 2H

Kindness is not…

  • Hurting me with the ball on purpose.
  • Calling me names.
  • Teasing you for doing well at your work or maths masters goal.
  • Hitting or pushing past you.
  • Whispering to others about you.
  • Cheating at a game.
  • Using bad language at you or around you.
  • Not sticking up for you.
