College Captains –  Lara and John

College Vice Captains – Taj and Darcie

We wish our College Captains all the very best in their new leadership roles in 2024.

We also extend our thanks and encouragement to all the students who submitted applications. All the applications were outstanding.

Year 11 students have participated in a 3-day study camp at Camp Coolamatong on the Banksia Peninsula.   The camp is designed to enable students to be prepared to start year 12 in a positive and well-resourced manner. Students, both VCE and VCE VM engaged in a variety of activities with a focus on team building, and health and well-being.

The students enjoyed raft making, stand up paddle boarding, combat archery, canoeing, a fun night hike, a boat trip to the The Grange and an entertaining dress up night.

Year 10 Woodwork

The Students have been finishing some very high quality work.  These products are completely of their own design.  They had to draw their product, plan its production, select materials, and complete it on schedule.  Some chose to utilise our laser printers and routers, creating top notch work.

Shea created this circular coffee table using some advanced router techniques.  We were able to laser engrave her father’s truck onto the table.

Koby made himself a new desk.  The top was made of joined hardwood.  The base was pine with a sliding shelf for his keyboard.

Henry imagined this unique design for a shelf.  Getting the measurements and angles exact was quite the task.  He utilised the router to create round edges on each of the components.

 Year 10 Systems Design

The students are designing and building remote control cars. They had to solder each component of these very complex circuit boards.  They then wired in a gearbox and design a steering system.  We’re very proud of what this group has been able to achieve.

Year 11 VCE Systems Engineering

The students were tasked with creating battle robots.  They had to design their own robot, as well as its drivetrain. These were remote controlled through infrared.  They were given the option to add a mechanical weapon to immobilize another opponent.  There were some very creative entries, including fast spinning blades and a water cannon.

Youth leadership series graduation

Me, My Team, and My Community
The Youth Leadership Series course is a 6-month course run by TAFE Gippsland and East Gippsland Community Foundation and I completed this during 3 face-to-face classes and 10 online classes. Over the 6 months we learnt about emotional intelligence, communication skills based around ourselves, our team, and our community, work ready skills, leading teams, building leadership skills in our community. We also worked a lot around soft skills, building personal attributes and enhancing technical skills. This course gave participants the skills and tools to contribute to their personal growth, their role as a team member and ultimately as a successful leader in their local community. It was challenging for me to complete this whilst studying Year 11 Vocational Major, but I’m proud of what I achieved and attended my Graduation Ceremony at TAFE.
