Principal's Report
Dear families,
The final VCAA exam took place at SBC on Tuesday 14th November and for our Year 12 students this signals the end of their secondary education. This significant milestone signifies that they are leaving one way of being and entering into another. To celebrate, the graduating class of 2023, together with their families will gather next Tuesday at 5pm for the Graduation Mass, which will be followed by dinner at the Golf Club. Engaging in rituals at these transition points in our lives deepens our sense of meaning and helps us to be aware that we will be entering into a new phase with different demands and different opportunities.
On behalf of the Year 12 cohort I take this opportunity to thank the staff that have journeyed with them and I personally thank all the families whose journey with St Brigid’s ends on Friday evening. Our graduates leave St Brigid’s knowing that they share the qualities and attributes of our Brigidine values and they go with confidence and courage because they are ready to take their place in this rapidly evolving tomorrow that doesn't really exist today. We ask them to turn the uncertainty that the world is experiencing at this time into courage and to follow their passion in order to create positive change; after all, this is what we have prepared them for.
Next week also marks the start of core subject and Unit 2 exams for the Year 10 and Year 11 students which concludes their 2023 academic year. This will be followed in the following week by their entry into the 2024 academic year with a week of Head Start classes. It is important that all students attend this week, which will set them up for some study over the summer break and a head start into next year.
The end of year Liturgy and awards ceremony will be at Ss Michael and John’s Church on 1st December at midday and all families are welcome to attend. The final day for Year 7 -9 students is 8th December.
Stay Safe,
Gerard Raven
