Year Two - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families,

This week we participated in a Liturgy for Ash Wednesday. Students participated reverently and received ashes in the form of a cross on their foreheads as a symbol of repentance and preparation for Lent. Students have made their Lenten promises and discussed what they can do during the period of Lent to prepare for the death of Jesus.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education: We will be learning about stories of Jesus' life and how we can relate these to our own lives. 

Mathematics: We are learning about addition and subtraction. We have been focusing on strategies such as using tens frames, open and closed number lines, bridging to ten and the part-part whole method.

English: We will continue looking at the book 'The Lost Girl' where students will unpack key vocabulary within the text. Students will undertake activities related to the story and review the subordinating conjunctions: if, when, before and after. Our spelling focus is the Silent Final E Job 3 where e goes at the end to make c and g say their second sound (ce ge).

Auslan: This week we are learning that in Auslan you can change the location or movement of a sign to show a different meaning. 

Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: We are focusing on emotional literacy where we recognise and manage our different emotions. 

Reminders:

On Wednesday March 26th we will have our community Mass at 9:30am, all families are invited to attend.

We will be beginning to look at family trees in the next couple of weeks. If you could discuss with your children the members of your family who they would like to include in their family tree (e.g. immediate family - parents, grandparents, siblings).
