CYBER SAFETY FOR OUR CHILDREN
On Monday night, we were very fortunate to listen to Susan McLean speak at St Therese's PS with our parish families. Susan outlined, comprehensively, ways we can navigate the online world with our children to ensure they are safe and protected while interacting on line.
Susan McLean is a prominent Australian expert in cyber safety, widely recognised for her work in educating individuals, particularly young people, about the risks associated with online behaviour. As a former police officer, she became one of the first officers in Australia to specialise in cybercrimes and internet safety.
Susan's focus is on promoting safe online practices and raising awareness about the potential dangers of the internet, such as cyberbullying, online predators, and privacy breaches. She frequently conducts workshops and seminars for schools, parents, and organisations to teach digital literacy, how to manage social media use responsibly, and how to protect personal information online.
Her advocacy also includes working with schools to implement better policies around digital citizenship and cyber safety. Susan is a vocal proponent for the importance of teaching children to use technology responsibly, and she remains a trusted voice in cyber safety education in Australia.
Her recent book 'Sexts, Texts and Selfies' provides invaluable information for families around Cyber Safety.
Her website can be found here for more information.
Thank you to the parents who attended the session on Monday night.
Have a lovely long weekend.
Kindest regards,
Jen Gulavin -Deputy Principal (Inclusive Education)
