Hello Springer Families!
What a wonderful first term we have been having in Visual Art! It has been such a joy to start my Art Teacher journey with such a creative, motivated group of kids. Here are a few highlights from our journey through art this term;
In Year 3, students have been looking at Pablo Picasso and his wacky abstract artworks. They have used paper collaging techniques and their knowledge of complementary and analogous colours to create face collages.
In Year 4, students have been learning about Andy Warhol and Pop Art. Using their collage skills and colour-relationship knowledge, students have made incredible everyday object artworks that pop off the page.
In Year 5, students have focused on Australian artist Bernadette Twomey and her beautiful botanical artwork. Building on a painted background of warm or cool colours, students have painted botanicals and added details using Posca Markers to create amazing canvas artworks.
In Year 6, students have learnt all about Vincent Van Gogh and his famous Starry Night paintings. Building on their knowledge of cool and warm colours, foreground and background, and negative space, students have used oil pastel and Posca markers to create swirling landscapes.
I am so proud of the efforts of every student this term and can’t wait to dive into even more creative concepts next term!
Creatively,
Miss Cain,
Visual Art Teacher
